Brrrr! It sure is cold outside! Is it cold inside for you, too? Is your house drafty? Do you avoid sitting in that one chair because it’s right next to a drafty window? I grew up in a drafty house. Our living room was made up of huge floor to ceiling windows, so we basically did not want to be in our living room from November until April. But that’s not right! We should be able to use every room in our houses throughout the winter months without driving the electricity bill through the roof.

So what’s the answer? I have a quick fix for drafty windows that won’t cost you much time or money. It’s so simple, I’m doing it myself without any help from the man of the house!

You can read more about draft proofing house over here.

You will need bubble wrap with large bubbles (enough to fit the dimensions of your window) and masking tape. You can find this kind of bubble wrap at pack and ship stores or right here (affiliate link).

Then, the fix is simple: apply the bubble wrap with bubbles facing out and the smooth side facing you and tape the it along the edges of the window so that it is completely sealed off. Instant insulation!

What I love about it is that it can be used with or without insulating shades. It’s also perfect for oddly shaped windows where insulating shades may not exist. Plus, the bubble wrap still lets light in when you are not using a shade, and we all know how much light we need during those dark winter months!

So go on and warm up your house, your electricity bill will thank you!
