Being a teacher requires planning and preparation, so having a few of the must-have back to school items from the list above is a great way for them to feel as though they are ready for that first day of school as well!

Helpful Back to School Items for Teachers

Pencils

While it may not be the responsibility of the teacher to have pencils stocked and ready, let’s be real…Kids go through pencils like crazy! If you open the drawer of a teacher’s desk, more than likely you’re going to see a ton of extra pencils, because they always like to be prepared.

Paper

Teachers love to give writing assignments..the old school way. Not on a computer or tablet but with good old pencil and paper. No child will have the chance to use the “I don’t have any paper” excuse this year, because the teachers of the world are ready!

Coffee Cup

Caffeine can be a teacher’s best friend, especially at the start of a brand new school year. Part of the fun of drinking coffee is finding a super cute coffee mug to showcase!

Markers

Not just any markers, but markers that work specifically with the dry erase board. There isn’t anything as frustrating as being a teacher and not having dry erase markers that show up well on the board. How can students in the back of the room be expected to learn if they can’t see what is being written up on the board?

Kleenex

Depending on the age of the classroom, there may be a lot of runny noses going on all the time! Teachers are always prepared and tend to have a stockpile of Kleenex for the entire year.

Snacks

Kids aren’t the only ones you get hungry at varying times throughout the day! Teachers do as well. Stocking up on healthy snacks to keep at their desk is an important way for them to find the energy to stay focused and on top of their game during the day.

Erasers

Teachers always tend to tell students that making mistakes is okay, so having an abundance of erasers to help them is a great way to show them that mistakes can be erased and redone without any issues.

Reading books

If you’ve ever taken a glance around the classroom at your student’s school, you’ve more than likely seen a ton of different reading books scattered about. Every year, teachers do their best to have other types of learning materials available for students to read if they happen to finish earlier than their peers. Reading books are a great back to school item that teachers stock their classrooms with!

Don’t forget a few fun back to school items as well!

And while it’s always a good idea to give practical things to teachers for back to school, don’t forget about gifting them some fun items as well.

Chocolate

Because, well…who doesn’t love chocolate. And giving them the gift of candy to stock up their desk isn’t a bad idea at all! In fact, if they could give you a grade for this, it would be an A+!

Stress Ball

While this might be meant as a fun gift, they’ll probably actually use it as well! And you can find some really cute and fun stress balls online or in the stores when you look.

Whoopie Cushion

Who knows…maybe the teacher might want to play a few of her own practical jokes on the students. Having his/her own whoopie cushion could be a really fun gift!

Friendly smile

Last but not least, all teachers start their school year off happy and with a friendly smile. It’s the perfect way to welcome back the students for the start of the school year! Plus, if you as a parent want to brighten that smile a bit, start thinking about the first day of school gift that your child can take and give to them!
