Every Friday night at our house is family movie night. We are crazy about popcorn, and finally decided to go for it with a popcorn machine. After all, we were devouring bags of the stuff, but popping it on the stove is a little too time consuming. We purchased the WestBend Stir Crazy popcorn machine on Amazon for a family Christmas present, and it was a HUGE hit!
We decided to give a popcorn machine a try for two reasons.
1.) With a large family it’s cheaper to buy kernels in bulk, and we eat a lot of popcorn. A 50 pound bag of popcorn kernels is only $23 at my local Sam’s Club. The cheapest microwave popcorn I’ve found recently, is roughly $20 for 36 bags.
2.) I don’t really like the after taste of microwave popcorn, and I like to control what goes into our favorite snack.
The WestBend Stir Crazy Popcorn Machine is so much fun. My kids love to stand at the counter waiting for the kernels to begin to pop. Actually, I do too! It’s the simple things in life that bring the greatest joy, isn’t it?
The Stir Crazy pops just about every kernel perfectly each time. The clear plastic lid doubles as a popcorn bowl. Once the machine is done popping, you just flip the machine over and let the popcorn drop into the bowl!
When I do my grocery shopping I usually pick up some sweet treat to add to our popcorn on movie nights. My kids always look forward to seeing what sweet additions I have made to their bowls. This is a simple way for me to make a normal night feel a little bit more magical. Sometimes I’ll throw a pack of Nerds in with the popcorn, other times I’ll get fancy. But for me, nothing is better than simple honey butter popcorn to satisfy a snack attack.
