If you’re as clumsy as me, then food stains suddenly appearing on your shirt is a part of everyday life. For years, I have searched high and low for a product to eliminate hard-to-remove stains. I try to take care of my clothes by consistently using good-quality detergent, but sometimes, a simple washing just doesn’t cut it. Then, there are those products that promise to “instantly” remove stains. Many of these products have left me disappointed, seeing no result, and sometimes causing even more damage.

After some research, I came up with a DIY stain remover that removes stains pre-wash. It’s super simple to put together and doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals. It’s also extremely cost-effective: you probably have most of the ingredients hanging around in your pantry and cupboards.

Mix all of the ingredients in a large bowl until well-combined (your consistency will be fairly bubbly and fairly thick). You can choose to only make exact portions for each of your laundry loads or, make enough to put in a squirt bottle. Apply a few dabs directly on the stains before putting the clothes into the washing machine. Wash like normal.
